Discovering, Learning, and Growing

If you had asked me a year ago what I would be doing today, it certainly would not have been going to school and, not only learning photography, but loving and pursuing photography. I was in the world of Timeshare for so long, that I could not see anything else. And I have to admit, it was a pretty dismal feeling. I felt trapped! Like, even though I longed for a different future and to “get out”, I couldn’t see it actually coming to fruition. But God is Good!

I have posted before about my photography and, as I acknowledge that I have an enormous amount of learning ahead of me, I am pretty proud of what I have accomplished this far. So here is yet another post sharing my progress and looking for constructive criticism. I know there are a few very knowledgeable and experienced photographers who may see this post and I am hoping to hear your thoughts. Thoughts on how I did, what I can do different, what equipment I should look into, and any other suggestions you may have.

I am excited to report that I recently entered into my very first (EVER) Juried Art exhibition and, not only had 2 out of 3 submissions chosen, but also received an award for 3rd place in the 2-D category. This is a BIG deal for me! Because I never (EVER) considered myself even the slightest artistic or even creative. I have this new creative fire burning in me that I am consumed by and can’t wait to see where it leads me!

Some info about the contest….. over 140 entries, all by students and approx. 75 pieces chosen. First and foremost, I am just so thankful I was able to be a part of this event, but also, I am blessed that I was chosen for 3rd place. It stands to mention that without all the support I have from, not only my spouse, but also friends and family, as a 40-something yr old woman in a rediscovery and transition part of her life, I would not have been able to do this and would still be “stuck” in the life I hated!

This is just my Black & White Film photography, which I do every step through dark rooms and chemicals. My next post will be about my digital photography as I have the opportunity tomorrow to photograph a local band. I will NOT be using my iPhone —- (felt the need to say that since my last digital band post was all iPhone. lol)

BTW, I’m getting a new lens today! I am gleaming! Can’t wait to use it! Stay tuned…..
