When I started this journey, I mentioned in my “about me page” that there were several things I wanted to do. Well, I am about to expose myself to a lot of critique…….which is very uncomfortable for me. Also, I am drinking a glass of wine….which will assist in me not really caring that you are reading this right now. 🙂 At least until the morning and I realize I wrote this while I was tipsy. But oh well, here goes.
Yes, I did start school! One of the things Ive wanted to do for the last 25 years (oh, I am showing my age). Kids are grown….lets go! It is awesome! I am enjoying being back in the learning environment so much! One of the classes I am taking (which I mentioned in my “about me”) is photography. So let me explain.
In October, I received a “mack-daddy” camera from my husband for my Birthday (Birth-month really, :)) I was so excited because I am always taking pics of the sky/sunset from my “less than satisfactory” iPhone. As soon as I tried to use it, I realized I had no idea what I was doing. NONE!!! I am completely ignorant when it comes to cameras! (You mean, its not like snapchat where all the pics I take look perfect……with bunny ears? Whaaaattt???) A-NO!!
So, this led to my enrolling in college. Now, real quick, I feel the need to mention that I have wanted to return to college, as I mentioned, for a long time, however, it was never for photography. So, why not! Why not go for something that interests you? So, I did it!!! I enrolled for Spring 2019! OF course, I was a little late enrolling so I am only taking 2 classes but Hey, its a start!
After scouting the available classes, I am enrolled in a “Basic Photography” class. Yes, it is film. Yes, it is a bit obsolete. But WOW!!! I am so glad I am in this class! Dealing with black & White on film is challenging! Have you done it? If not, I highly recommend it! It will teach you to look at the world in a different light! It is not easy, I warn you! But it is rewarding.
Now, I have not printed anything that I can share just yet……..I told you it wasn’t easy! But I hope that it, at the least, is helping me with my photography skills.
I am about to put myself out there and open myself up to critique. A very hard place to be. So, here are some photos I have taken with my digital. Please feel free to comment and even give pointers or “hey, you should just stop” lol. I am in a place where I want to learn. Lets do this! 🙂

So pretty, Renee! My favorite pictures are the one with the house and the sunset behind it and the pine tree with the dew/rain drops on it! Really pretty!
